How does charter management work?

In the yachting industry, the charter management is a common structure used to streamline the management, marketing and bookings of yachts. Here’s how it works:

1. Exclusive representation

A yacht owner appoints us as their charter management company to be the exclusive representative of the yacht. Our management team is responsible for the daily operations including marketing and booking processes.

2. Key responsibilities

Our team takes on several key tasks to ensure the smooth operation and promotion of the yacht:

  • Marketing and promotion: We handle all advertising and promotional efforts across various platforms, including listing the yacht on relevant charter or sales websites.
  • Sales and charter management: We actively pursues potential clients, answering inquiries and negotiating deals.
  • Booking coordination: We manage all bookings and work directly with sub-agents, travel agencies, hotel, villas or clients to secure charter contracts or sales.
  • Crew and operations management: We oversee the crew and daily yacht operations, ensuring that the yacht is maintained and ready for charters.

3. Sub-Agent network

While we manage the overall process, we also work with a network of sub-agents or brokers who bring in additional clients. Sub-agents promote the yacht through their own channels, expanding the reach and potential bookings.

4. Commissions and fee structure

  • Our Management company earns a commission on each booking, typically 10%, on the yacht’s total charter price. This commission compensates us for handling all aspects of the charter management such as marketing efforts and booking coordination.
  • Sub-agents who bring in clients are paid a higher commission, typically 15%, which comes out of the total charter price.

5. Commission structure example

  • Charter price: 100,000 THB
  • Our management commission: 10% = 10,000 THB
  • Sub-Agent commission: 15% = 15,000 THB
  • Yacht owner profit: 75% = 75,000 THB

6. Benefits to the yacht owner

  • Efficient inquiry management: The CA ensures that all inquiries from potential clients are responded to quickly, which is critical in the competitive charter market.
  • Increased bookings: By leveraging our extensive network and expertise, the yacht owner can expect more frequent and higher-quality bookings.
  • Professional handling: We ensure that each charter is executed professionally, including managing all logistics like provisioning, client interactions and crew coordination.

The yacht management model is widely used in the yachting industry as it simplifies the operation for yacht owners and maximizes the yacht’s revenue.
